BEHEMOTH Frontman: 'I Don't Wanna Just Be Another Rock 'N' Roll Band'
October 1, 2019BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski recently answered a number of fan-submitted questions by the readers of U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine. Asked by one fan if he would still term BEHEMOTH as being a black metal band, Nergal said: "I came to the conclusion lately — I've been a fan of LAIBACH and RAMMSTEIN for, like, two decades now, and they're bands that are much more than just rock bands. They definitely are rock, or industrial or whatever, but they've always had something that's more than music. They create an entire world around what they're doing. We are a black metal band, of course, but we are also something beyond that. Our artistic vision is vast, and we're just trying to explore the channels as much as we can. I don't wanna just be another rock 'n' roll band. I don't want to be in a cycle of something that is out of the box. We want to do things our own way, not what the market says we should do, or what our management says we should do, or whatever. We're eager to 'go there' and explore and try out."
This past summer, BEHEMOTH spent time on the road in North America with SLIPKNOT as part of the "Knotfest Roadshow" tour.
BEHEMOTH's latest album, "I Loved You At Your Darkest", was released in October 2018 via Metal Blade Records in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe.
Unlike 2014's "The Satanist", which was primarily recorded in one studio, "I Loved You At Your Darkest" saw its production spread across Poland and the United States. It was produced by the bandmembers themselves, with drum co-production by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES),mixing by Matt Hyde (SLAYER, CHILDREN OF BODOM) and mastering by Tom Baker (NINE INCH NAILS, MARILYN MANSON).
